Our volunteers augment the mission of Texas Children's in their support of patients and families. Volunteers make a commitment to volunteer once a week for 2-3 consecutive hours for a minimum of 6 months. Prospective volunteers are strongly encouraged to consider the time commitment, consistency and dedication necessary to make the volunteer experience beneficial to both you as a volunteer and to the patients, families and hospital staff we serve.
While we do not offer opportunities for clinical exposure and/or shadowing hospital staff, volunteers support patients, families and staff through various service assignments.
Become a Texas Children's Hospital Volunteer for Main Campus:
The Summer University Student Volunteer Program (SUS) is an opportunity for full time college students, graduate students, and nursing students to volunteer at Texas Children’s Hospital during the summer months. SUS Volunteers will help Texas Children’s elevate the level of care we provide by supporting patients and families through a variety of volunteer assignments.
Although the program does not offer opportunities with clinical exposure or medical professional shadowing, SUS volunteers do have the opportunity to assist in various assignments where interaction with patients and staff are involved.
We are no longer accepting applications for the 2019 Summer University Student Volunteer Program.
Please check back with us in January 2020 for more information about volunteer opportunities for college students.
