Since 2011, there has been a steady increase in patient visits to the A.R. “Tony” and Maria J. Sanchez Family Foundation Center. Last year, specialists had nearly 20,000 patient encounters including 1,289 new patients. This consistent increase is a reflection of the trusting relationship clinic staff have built with patients and families. They continue to refer their neighbors and friends as word continues to spread about the ways the Sanchez Family Center enables others to help themselves.

What inspires you to work at the Sanchez Family Center?
I have worked in pediatrics for 12 years and was drawn to Texas Children’s and the Sanchez Family Center because of the organization’s commitment and infrastructure to help every child that comes to us for help. If I am able to do something to help a child’s health, life or even smile, I am all in!

What’s been your most memorable patient encounter?
A single mother with three children was doing her best to work and get her children the care they needed. However, because she worked during all of the clinic’s operating hours, she was unable to get there in time to get her children the vaccinations they needed. In an effort to do the right thing and help this single, working mom, we were able to flex the schedule a bit to accommodate her and her children. The mother left feeling listened to and happy she and her children were cared for.
