Brandi and Kevin Cox never imagined it would happen to their child—but a cancer diagnosis was unfortunately in the cards for this Conroe family.
Their son Taylor began having fevers on and off, and his skin was discolored. A visit to his pediatrician revealed that he was severely anemic and needed to get to Texas Children’s Hospital right away for a blood transfusion.
Taylor was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in the summer of 2013. “We were told that he had leukemia, but we really didn’t believe it,” Brandi said. “When I saw doctors with the words “Cancer Center” on their badges, it hit me. I just never thought it would be my child.”
Since then, Taylor has received weekly chemotherapy treatments and was officially in remission by the time he received his 29-day scan. He is progressing well and is looking forward to moving into the maintenance phase of his therapy.
