On Friday, October 6th, more than 400 guests attended the 12th Annual Salute to Champions fashion show and luncheon to benefit Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center.
Emceed by Melissa Wilson, Morning News co-anchor for FOX 26, the fashion show featured Patient Champions, cancer patients from Texas Children's, who walked the runway alongside Community Champions, a group of generous Houstonians who do so much to help children battling cancer and make our community a better place.
This year, four returning Community Champions and their original Patient Champions returned to walk the runway together once again. Before strutting the stage in the latest fashion trends from Tootsies and Dillard’s, our Patient Champions enjoyed a fun morning of getting their hair and make-up done. Community Champion Jo Ann Petersen underwrote all of the children’s attire for the event.
A big thank you goes out to our long-time event chairs, Sidney Faust, Judi McGee, Elsie Eckert and Scott Basinger, and the generous sponsors who underwrite this event to raise critical funds in support of research and patient care at Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center.
