Texas Children’s Volunteer Services

Volunteer Services Mission

The Volunteer Services Department at Texas Children's Hospital is committed to maintaining an active program of support, compassion and quality service for the community of children and families we serve, as well as the staff of TCH, while providing meaningful and challenging opportunities for those who volunteer.

About Us

Texas Children's Hospital volunteers lend their time, unique skills and talents making a difference in the lives of patients and families. Our volunteers make up the Auxiliary to Texas Children's Hospital and have actively supported TCH since the Hospital's opening in 1954. The Auxiliary continues to contribute volunteer service hours and financial support augmenting Texas Children's mission to support excellence in patient care, education and research.

When joining the Volunteer Services team at TCH, you will become a part of a diverse group of over 800 active Auxiliary members who support patients, families and Hospital staff through a number of assignments within the TCH system. Although we DO NOT offer opportunities for clinical exposure and/or shadowing medical staff, we do offer a number of exciting and rewarding volunteer assignments at each of our 3 locations: Texas Children's Hospital (Medical Center), Texas Children's Hospital West Campus (Katy) and Texas Children's Pavilion for Women (Medical Center).

Volunteer Commitment

By becoming a volunteer at TCH, you are making a commitment to support patients, families and staff in a selected assignment once a week for a 2-3 hour shift for a minimum of 6 months. We ask that you take this commitment seriously as patients, families and the healthcare team depend on you. Your Volunteer Coordinator will work with you to select a volunteer assignment that matches your interests, skills and schedule.
