Your Gift at Work

At Texas Children’s, we value each and every gift we receive, no matter the size, because each gift helps us to deliver on our all-important mission of creating a healthier future for children and women.

When we receive a gift like yours, we make sure that it is used for the purposes it was intended, whether that’s to support Texas Children’s general mission or to aid us with a particular need. We do not use donations to off-set our fundraising costs. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Texas Children’s has been able to:

  • take care of children, regardless of their families’ ability to pay and invest nearly $150 million annually in charity and indigent care, community health initiatives, health professionals education, subsidized health services, research and community partnerships.

  • expand our care to women through the establishment of Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women, which provides fetal and obstetrical care for babies and mothers and gynecological care for women of every age.

  • expand our care to even more children through the building of Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus and Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands (scheduled to open in 2017 to serve communities north of Houston), both offering the same high quality care available at the Texas Children’s Campus in the Texas Medical Center.

  • support some of the nation’s best researchers who are conducting groundbreaking research in critical areas including cancer, cardiology and diabetes.

  • build the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute, the world’s first basic research institute dedicated to pediatric neurological disorders like autism, epilepsy and cerebral palsy.

  • treat more children with cancer than any other institution in the world.

  • care and treat more than 230,000 children and families with HIV/AIDS in Eastern Europe and across Africa, along with a growing focus on sickle cell disease, malaria, tuberculosis, cancer, diarrheal illnesses, malnutrition and neglected tropical diseases through our Global Health Initiative.

  • serve as the principal pediatric teaching site for Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), training some of the nation’s best medical students, residents and fellows.

  • collaborate with BCM in the only Transition Medicine Clinic in Texas—and one of only a handful in the country—to help facilitate a smooth transition from pediatric to adult care.

  • The next chapter of Texas Children’s is to expand our care to even more children who need us. Promise: The Campaign for Texas Children’s Hospital is a $475 million fundraising campaign that will help ensure the future of Texas Children’s as the leading pediatric and women’s health care provider for greater Houston, the state of Texas and beyond.Learn more about the initiatives of the campaign and how you can help.
