Fraser's Friends

Fraser’s Friends is a philanthropic support group dedicated to advancing patient care, education and research for the surgical enterprise at Texas Children’s Hospital.

Mending tiny hearts, treating chronic seizures and repairing cleft palates—these, and so many more, are life-changing surgeries that take place at Texas Children’s every day. The philanthropic support of people like you helps make this care possible for children who come to us from around the world.

Fraser’s Friends was launched in 2007 to support the division of Congenital Heart Surgery. We have since broadened the impact and scope of the group to capitalize on the opportunities that exist throughout the department of Surgery, which includes nine divisions: Congenital Heart, Dental, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedic, Otolaryngology, Pediatric General Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Urology.

In conjunction with our partners in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and Transplant Services, the department of Surgery has more than 60 full-time surgeons who perform more than 25,000 procedures each year, with outcomes among the best in the nation.

Our expanded focus for Fraser’s Friends is helping Texas Children’s build on the successes of all the divisions within the department of Surgery. Since its inception, Fraser’s Friends has raised nearly $3 million.

Your gift to Fraser’s Friends will benefit the Promise Campaign, helping us provide care for critically ill children from our community and beyond.

You can support the Department of Surgery in the following ways:

  • $20,000 in celebration of Dr. Charles D. Fraser, Jr.'s 20th anniversary at Texas Children's Hospital
  • $15,000 for technology like surgical cameras
  • $10,000 for specialized surgical instruments
  • $5,000 for equipment like surgical headlights

All “Fraser’s Friends” supporters receive a bi-annual newsletter and an invitation to the annual cocktail reception.
