The Bad Pants Open Vision

The Bad Pants Open — Supporting unmet needs of premature and sick newborn babies and their families at Texas Children's Hospital

On Wednesday, October 2, 2019 Texas Children’s Hospital will host The 22nd Annual Bad Pants Open golf tournament at The Clubs of Kingwood. The Bad Pants Open is committed to funding the needs of sick and premature newborn babies and their families that are not covered by the medical services and programs available in the hospital. All proceeds will be used to enhance the medical and technical care that these babies and their families currently receive throughout the year, so that the burden on the families is decreased.

Examples of some of the programs and services supported by The Bad Pants Open fund are — nurse training and education, bereavement care programs, parking costs, meals for families, transportation, and car seats. At Texas Children’s, we believe in caring for the whole child, as well as for the needs of the family. With the support of the Bad Pants funds, our goal is to guarantee all families in Texas Children’s Newborn Center are comfortable and well cared for, so they can focus on getting their baby healthy and ready to go home sooner.

Over the past 21 years, The Bad Pants Open has provided nearly $6,000,000 in support for Texas Children’s Newborn Center — the largest neonatal intensive care unit in the country and one of only two Level 4 NICUs in the greater Houston area. In addition, crucial funds provided by The Bad Pants Open have supported the construction of a Level 3 neonatal unit in the new Texas Children's community hospital in the Woodlands. Because of supporters like you, we will be able to offer expert neonatal intensive care, world-class expertise and cutting-edge technology along with compassionate family support to our tiniest patients.
